RTA Business Partners

Role

The primary role of the RTA Business Partner is to develop and promote your tourism businesses responsibly, in a way that secures you greater opportunity, and a more equitable share of tourism revenues. The RTA's social enterprise driven, non-commission-based business model, was established to help you do that.
The RTA platform allows you to provide the rapidly growing responsible tourism market with the unique and rewarding travel experiences they seek, in a way that showcases your customs and culture, protects the environment and ensures a sustainable future for you, your children, and those in your LVBEs (local visitor based economies.)

Given that many of the tourism SMMEs in the membership may not have the language skills or dedicated resources to respond promply to enquiries, the RTA Local Agent handles bookings for you, contacting you by email, phone, Line as agreed, and provides guests with both guides and transport.

Your incentive to do well comes from the access the RTA gives you to opportunity, increased revenue from commission-free bookings, low-cost promotion and development assistance. For accommodation in particular, this affords you significant savings where there are multiple room nights and room numbers involved, allowing you great flexibility in offering booking incentives: discounts, upgrades, complimentary services - on a case by case basis.

Your success is determined by the appeal of your product, the standard of your service, and your level of compliance with RTAs flexible best practices. The better the 'verified' guest comments uploaded to your online presentation by the visiting RTA Ambassadors, the more business you will attract.
The RTA provides ground handling services that link Business Partners providing accommodation, activities, attractions, workshops, along logical tourist routes. It provides the same service to RTA Business Partners in the destination itself. It works with RTA Development Partners - local government tourism representatives, NGOs, and others, who share the same objectives.
The Volunteers Without Borders Foundation - a non-profit foundation - and RTA Alliance Partner - assist in developing your online business profiles (a website on our platform), business skills training, and supports you in establishing viable non-tourism reliant 2nd revenue streams.

The RTA helps to develop the 2nd revenue supply chains aimed at increasing your income and risk management of your business.

Responsibilities

Developing Your Business Model

Your success will be largely determined by the type of product or service you establish, its appeal to the responsible tourism market, and the collective efforts of yourself and others in your local visitor-based economy to attract visitors. Pricing and operating costs are equally important as is your choice and operation of a non-tourism revenue dependent 2nd revenue stream – if needed to manage risk and/or boost income.

RTA Best Practices & Service Standards
To become a Business Partner and attract bookings from those in the RTA Community you need to implement responsible tourism best practices. The RTA does not impose a minimum compliance standard, instead, we provide you with a database of best practices, and you choose what you want to comply with to start with, ticking YES or NO to each. Assistance through skills training workshops - on best practices and hospitality - is provided by VWB.
  • Phased Introduction - The database, showing your current level of compliance, is then saved to your business profile. Our approach accepts that for micro and small-sized tourism business, full compliance is costly, and will only be accomplished on a step-by-step basis as funding allows.
  • Costs & Savings - The higher your compliance, the greater your potential cost savings, and the more appeal you will have to your customer base.
Promoting Your Business on the RTA Platform

The RTA provides you with low-cost market access, including (optional) subsidised 'Pay per Click' entry page advertising through barter trade, and a wide range of promotional tools.

  • A Good Product - Nothing promotes your prouct more than you ensuring it offers a highly personalised, responsibly operated, unique, and rewarding travel experience.
  • Guest Comments - Our Ambassadors are tasked to upload verified guest comments to your online presentation. Positive comments will help to attract more business.
  • News & Events - Use your News & Events feature to promote genuine 'news and events' related to your business or your local visitor-based economy.
  • Barter Trade -  Promote your business using barter trade (products & services) taking advantage of the difference between their cost and advertised rate value.
  • Guest Promotion - In addition to your guest comments, some of the Ambassadors may wish to assist your promotional efforts by contributing to your business blog.
  • RTA Local Agent Promotion - The RTA Local Agent plays a role in promoting the destination, and your services with it.
  • Articles, Blogs, Forums - A mention in tourism-related articles your business of other members blogs, discussions between members of the RTA Community in our forums or use of our 'news and events' will help to promote your business.
Guest Comments

RTA Ambassadors visiting your business are asked to review and comment on your standard of service provided, and compliance is as stated on your Business Partner’s online presentation. The Ambassadors booking ref. and verified comment (and a score of 1 to 5) on each, would then be uploaded to the comment section of your presentation:

  • Objective - The objective is to encourage the Business Partner - through positive comments and promotional support - to achieve full compliance and the best possible service over time.
  • Positive Comments - Comments 'ticked' positive would be automatically uploaded directly to the site.
  • Negative Comments - Comments 'ticked' as negative would be sent to the Business Partner who would have 7 days to resolve the problem and/or submit a rebuttal for upload.
  • Transparency - The Business Partner's recent history of comments is stored on his or her online profile where it can be reviewed by the Local Agent in the event of a dispute.
Your Local Visitor Based Economy

The visitor-based economy should be an important source of revenue for many communities. Business Partner should become a catalyst, bringing sustainable benefits to both your own business through the multiplier effect that the revenue you bring in generates in the greater local visitor -based economy.

  • Building Suppliers - In many cases the development of your business and presumably your home with the revenue you earn will provide opportunities and jobs in the building supplies sector.
  • Food & Beverage Suppliers - From the farm to the shops and market stall vendors, your business will create opportunity, revenue, and employment.
  • Transport Providers - Will benefit from an increase in demand, again providing opportunity, revenue, and employment.
  • Local Government - Will benefit from increased tax revenue which will be used to improve infrastructure and amenities.
  • The Local Workforce - Will benefit from local employment opportunities, reducing the need to have people move to the cities for work, leaving the old and young behind.
  • The Community - With more money and people in the local economy, there will be an increase in cultural activities that strengthen its social fabric.
