RTA Business Partners
Role
The primary role of the RTA Business Partner is to develop and promote your tourism businesses responsibly, in a way that secures you greater opportunity, and a more equitable share of tourism revenues. The RTA's social enterprise driven, non-commission-based business model, was established to help you do that.
The RTA platform allows you to provide the rapidly growing responsible tourism market with the unique and rewarding travel experiences they seek, in a way that showcases your customs and culture, protects the environment and ensures a sustainable future for you, your children, and those in your LVBEs (local visitor based economies.)
Given that many of the tourism SMMEs in the membership may not have the language skills or dedicated resources to respond promply to enquiries, the RTA Local Agent handles bookings for you, contacting you by email, phone, Line as agreed, and provides guests with both guides and transport.
Your incentive to do well comes from the access the RTA gives you to opportunity, increased revenue from commission-free bookings, low-cost promotion and development assistance. For accommodation in particular, this affords you significant savings where there are multiple room nights and room numbers involved, allowing you great flexibility in offering booking incentives: discounts, upgrades, complimentary services - on a case by case basis.
Your success is determined by the appeal of your product, the standard of your service, and your level of compliance with RTAs flexible best practices. The better the 'verified' guest comments uploaded to your online presentation by the visiting RTA Ambassadors, the more business you will attract.
The RTA provides ground handling services that link Business Partners providing accommodation, activities, attractions, workshops, along logical tourist routes. It provides the same service to RTA Business Partners in the destination itself. It works with RTA Development Partners - local government tourism representatives, NGOs, and others, who share the same objectives.
The Volunteers Without Borders Foundation - a non-profit foundation - and RTA Alliance Partner - assist in developing your online business profiles (a website on our platform), business skills training, and supports you in establishing viable non-tourism reliant 2nd revenue streams.
The RTA helps to develop the 2nd revenue supply chains aimed at increasing your income and risk management of your business.

Search & Research ![]() |
When searching for their travel experiences RTA Ambassadors will follow these steps:
Step 1. Search Type - Select the Search Type Option.
|
Enquiries & Bookings![]() |
Step 1. Submit Enquiry - They use the CGI form on the communications & booking log on their profile page to submit either an enquiry or their proposed itinerary & timeline to the designated RTA Local Agent in the destination they are visiting. Note* We suggest that they include a couple of options for things like accommodation so that you may compare offers made.Step 2. Local Agent Review - The Local Agent reviews their itinerary and provides them with a provisional estimate of his or her fees (based on the estimated number of hours/costs involved in putting it together.) He or she agrees to come back to the Ambassador for approval and with an explanation if that fee estimate changes during the enquiry/booking process.Step 3. Approval - Once the Ambassador confirms he or she should proceed the Local Agent contacts the various Business Partners involved in their booking, checking availability, pricing, incentives, ability to meet your stated likes, dislikes, preferences.Step 4. Personalised Service - The Local Agent reviews their Hobbies & Interests and Personalised Service databases, (on their profile) to see what matches can be made for them in the destination.Step 5. Quotation - The Local Agent then sends the Ambassador an itemised proposal (using the same CGI form). They exchange responses using this same form until they both confirm the services and charges, and barter trade products and services to be paid for in Barter Dollars. At this point payment options are agreed, and the formal quotation is issued. This will include the requirements for payment of a deposit and the balance.Step 6. Booking - The Ambassador confirms the itinerary and makes their formal booking using the same system.Step 7. Making Payment - The Ambassador makes a deposit or full payment to the Local Agent via the method agreed (credit card, bank transfer, PayPal). He or she then transfers Barter Dollars from their barter account (on their profile page) to the account of the Local Agent.Step 8. Confirmation - Once payments have been made, the Ambassador is sent a detailed itinerary, emergency contact detail, and vouchers as required.Note: All exchanges are conducted using the CGI form in an embedded email system on your profile page. The Ambassador receives notification of their arrival by email. Emails are time-stamped as part of our service standard monitoring programme.![]() |
